Danzo thinks Izanagi has protected him from harm, thus making him the winner, but Sasuke uses genjutsu to pretend Izanagi is still active. Karin treats Sasuke’s wounds. The badly wounded Danzo loses control of the First Hokage’s cells, which allow him to use the wood element, and he is forced to remove his arm. Determined not to give up, Danzo takes Karin hostage to ransom his escape. Although Karin thinks Sasuke will try to save her, Sasuke instead stabs Karin through and through, mortally wounding both her and Danzo.
