Naruto realizes that he cannot answer any of the questions given to him. Although Sakura manages to do so, she realizes that the exam is too difficult for the average genin. Combined with the fact that they are not disqualified unless they are caught cheating at least five times, Sasuke and the other participants (except Naruto) conclude that the true purpose of this test is to test their ability to extract information discreetly. While the test subjects use their abilities to peek into the others’ notes, some of them are caught and excluded. Naruto’s anxiety increases when Hinata, sitting next to him, suggests that he write down her answers.
