Fukasaku reveals that Jiraiya left an encrypted message on it about Paine before he died and shows it to those present. Naruto instead turns his attention to Tsunade and accuses her of letting Jiraiya go on such a dangerous mission alone. Tsunade makes no attempt to dispute his claim, so he leaves despite Sakura’s displeasure. Naruto spends the rest of the day hanging around town, mourning Jiraiya. He meets Iruku, who notes that Naruto has finally gained recognition in the village and offers to go with him to Ramen Ichiraku, but Naruto refuses. That night, Naruto buys some fruit ice, arrives at the park and begins to cry, regretting that Jiraiya won’t catch the moment when he becomes Hokage. Iruka tracks him down and comforts him regarding Jiraiya’s death, saying that Jiraiya was always proud of Naruto, and that he stays alive inside his apprentice. Meanwhile, Tsunade instructs Shikamaru to decipher Jiraiya’s message himself. Although Shikamaru objects to doing it alone, Sakura insists. It turns out that some time afterwards, Tsunade spent time alone to mourn Jiraiya, to remember their first meeting, and to regret not reciprocating Jiraiya’s feelings earlier.
