Amaterasu Itachi continues to burn the neighborhood. Watching silently for the first time, Zetsu realized that Itachi was indeed dead, despite the fact that he was practically able to capture Sasuke’s eyes. His right half proclaimed Sasuke’s victory, while his left half was still perplexed. She noted that the battle was atypical of Itachi, as his movements were sluggish, as if he wasn’t fighting at full strength. His right side confirmed this, as Itachi was unable to dodge or counterattack the way he had done previously, and Itachi also coughed up blood regularly. She speculated that Itachi might have been seriously weakened by the start of the battle. Zetsu wasn’t sure if it was due to using the Sharingan too often. They left after that, unable to draw any more conclusions, and the left half kept going on and on about how close Itachi was to getting his brother’s eyes. Sasuke, realizing that he was now safe and had finally killed his brother, smiled and fainted from exhaustion. Meanwhile, the Hidden Leaf Village ninjas chasing Sasuke ruled out all possible explanations for why Toby had not suffered damage from their attacks. Deciding to grab him instead of trying to wound him, Shino prepared his kikaiichu for battle.
