When Hidan is in his transformed state, Asuma finds that all the damage Hidan inflicts is also transferred to him. The effect also extends to the damage Hidan inflicts on himself, which he takes advantage of by piercing himself to incapacitate Asuma. He tries to pierce his own heart to finish off Asuma, but allows himself to be caught and stopped by Shikamaru’s shadow. Trying to contain the end of Hidan’s attack, Shikamaru analyzes his actions and realizes how Hidan was able to bind himself to Asuma.
