Itachi confirmed that he had killed Shisui in order to gain the Mangekyo Sharingan, and that his awakening required the death of his closest friend. He sent Sasuke to the Naka Temple and urged him to use the information stored there to become strong enough to gain powers and kill him, avenging their clan. Sasuke passed out and woke up as the last Uchiha in Konoha. Upset by the loss of his family, who were just beginning to accept him, Sasuke agreed to live the rest of his life hating Itachi. Sasuke, realizing that Naruto is his closest friend, decides to kill him to pave the way for Itachi’s assassination.
