Vol.2 Chapter 17 – Preparing for Battle!!

After reflecting on how the recent battle with Zabuza ended, Kakashi concludes that Zabuza may still be alive. He breaks this news to Team 7, reinforcing the fact that ninja hunters usually destroy bodies on the spot rather than taking them away with them. Despite this, his chosen weapon of choice, the senbon, with which the masked boy “killed” him, is also notable. Kakashi also speculated that the boy thereby saved Zabuza by putting him in a state of temporary death. Because his guess may be correct, Kakashi decides to start training Team 7 to improve his chakra control in order to prepare for his next fight with Zabuza.
