Itachi tells Sasuke that he is weak and lacking in hatred. Jiraiya tries to detain him and Kisame, but they manage to escape – Itachi burns a hole in the wall of the toad’s stomach with Amaterasu. Jiraiya is amazed, as no one has ever managed to escape before, so he seals off some of the fire to investigate later.
When Naruto and Jiraiya decide to examine Sasuke, Maito Gai suddenly bursts into the inn and kicks the latter in the face, thinking he is the enemy. He uses his tread to look around the corner, but doesn’t make out who is in the reflection. Naruto remembers Sasuke’s defeat at the hands of Itachi and decides to follow him to reckon with them. However, Jiraiya quickly cools his ardor by telling him that this way Naruto will simply go to his death because their level is too high. They learn from Gaius that Kakashi Hatake is also afflicted with the same technique as Sasuke, and mentions that they need a medical specialist to heal them. Jiraiya informs him that this is exactly what he and Naruto went for: a sannin, a professional healer, and an avid gambler – Tsunade.
