Time passes, and Naruto still fails to summon a full-fledged toad. Since Naruto’s progress in the Summoning Technique is too slow, Jiraiya decides on a desperate method, putting the boy’s life in danger by using the Nine-Tailed’s chakra in an attempt to save himself.
Concerned about Orochimaru’s possible plans, the Third Hokage goes out to the Hokage Rock to ponder, but catches his grandson Konohamaru’s class there, listening to a story about the village Hokage. When the Third was spotted, Iruka colorfully painted the merits of the head of the village. The children questioned the strength of the current Hokage, as he was already quite old. To which the Third assured them that he was ready to defend his loved ones and all the villagers just as these students would fight for their family and friends.
